Mariane Quintão was detained in the United States of America for one month, 6 years ago, when she was still a child. Today at the United Nations, she made this speech at the 3rd Informal Thematic Session of the Global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration.

"Detention is no place for a child" says Mariane, "I can affirm that returns are a violent process, stripping children away from their homes, their families, their friends and their communities..."
